This evening we are hosting a “Saturday Night Family Dinner” at the Market. A few of our good friends are popping in for Chris’s Smoked Ribs, Wilder’s Wings, Diana Bell’s Salad, and Christian’s Scalloped Potatoes (we have yet to tell him he is making these for us). And for dessert, vanilla ice cream with Donna Starr’s Choco Espresso Cookies.
So, Diana, Deneene’s mom (we wrote about Deneene a few weeks back), and I decided to set out for a little shopping and meandering West County adventure. We posted about our fun on Instagram so check it out and if you’re not a follower take a moment to join in on the Big Bottom Market Instagram fun.
There is so much to say about Cheri Puig. She is a lovely neighbor, friend, fan of the Market, frequenter at our weekly community dinner, and a great cook. One evening we were invited for a dinner at her house… long before 20 Mile Radius was even a thing. As we sat there admiring her artwork, scanning her amazing cookbook collection, and chatting about how she and her partner Mike ended up in the area it dawned on us. Within less than 10 miles of the front door at Big Bottom Market, these amazing people with some much history right in their very home are living and enriching our community. It was right then and there that the idea for 20 Mile Radius was born.
Thanks to Cheri and Mike for being good friends and a great part of our community and we hope everyone will enjoy learning Cheri’s story.

Every Monday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM you’ll find Yvette, her husband, and the rest of the crew serving up West County’s best soul food. Fried chicken, ribs, beans and greens, macaroni and cheese… the options are out of this world, the price is right and everything is made with a lot of love.

Florence Nightingale believed that nursing was her calling and similarly Beth Thorp, former nurse founder of Nightingale Breads in Forestville, turned the making of bread into her life work. Her shop is named in honor of the famous caregiver.
Beth recently shared with the team at 20 Mile Radius that she would be passing the bakery on to a new owner. And while we are sorry to see her leave her passion she assured us that Jessie Frost, the new young and vibrant owner and baker, will honor her legacy and continue to make amazing breads and more.

Heidi Schulte is one of Guerneville’s favorite community members and the focus of this week’s 20 Mile Radius. She has lived here for more than 10 years and in that time has amassed a fan base and grown her skincare business beyond waxing and facials. We decided to sit down with one our town’s favorite mompreneurs to learnabout her business and more.
This is our very first “People of West County” post. Within 20 Miles of our little hamlet there are thousands of people doing amazing things. We are so proud to feature our friend and member of the Big Bottom family Deneene Bell of Wild Sage Yoga.
In addition to Deneene being one of West County’s talented yogis her son is working at Big Bottom Market this summer. Join us on Wednesday nights through August 15th for Wilder’s Wing Wednesdays.

For more than 50 years the Kozlowski’s have been running this agriculturally based local business and hand making food products from jams, vinegars and mustards to fresh apple pies. We recently sat with Carol Kozlowski-Every, who oversees some of the local and national and she invited us to sit with her and learn more.
In 1985, Joy Sterling, the famed CEO of Iron Horse Vineyards located in the Green Valley AVA (American Viticultural Area), had to choose between heaven and hell. It’s not hard to find exceptional olive oil in Western Sonoma County. Many of the wineries that dot our rolling hills also grow and harvest olives. The resulting oil and the flavor of each represents the unique soil, topography, and climate of the Russian River Valley or what is often referred to as the terroir.
Sixteen years ago, colleagues and friends of the Market, Rob Akins and Mark Berry bought an old apple farm with failing trees in Forestville. On a visit to Southern France and Italy the couple began tasting olive oil and fell in love with the idea of refurbishing the orchard and planting olive trees on the property. One year into the purchase of the property, Mark and Rob planted their first trees and have been planting more every few years. Their passion has grown into a thriving olive oil business — Olive Queen.
We have a new event at the Market called Layover. On Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, we stay open until 9:00 PM and people “Layover” while waiting for a table at one of the great restaurants here on Main St. in Guerneville. Yummy bites are served along with $8 glasses of amazing wines.
Last Friday we decided to give people the chance to “upgrade” to a tasty dinner. The menu offered up lemon and rosemary roasted chicken wings; roasted potatoes, carrots and shallots; and tasty salad dressed with the Market’s Champagne Vinaigrette.
